The John Deere tractor is revered all over the world. The distinctive green and yellow colors can be found not only on tractors, but forestry equipment, combine harvesters, planters, balers, mowers and even chainsaws and trimmers. The company’s logo is a deer and the slogan is “nothing runs like a deer”. Deere & Company was formed by the blacksmith, John Deere. Starting out in Illinois by repairing and making shovels and pitchforks in 1837, John Deere made his breakthrough with his cast-steel plow. John Deere began manufacturing plows and advertising them rather than making plows to order. It was this business model that boosted sales and led to the start up of John Deere manufacturing.
